Ty Simpson's Struggles Spotlighted by Fans as Alabama Goes Scoreless in 1H vs. Georgia
Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson failed to meet expectations in the first half of the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, as the Crimson Tide faced a 14-0 halftime deficit against Georgia.
Simpson finished 5-of-12 for 53 yards and an interception through two quarters of action.
Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer discussed his team's offensive struggles at halftime.
"Defense has been playing really good," DeBoer said. "Short field on the blocked punt, and then with the interception -- the interception got good field position there. Got to find some rhythm in the offense. There's plays to be made out there. We got to go make them."
Fans weren't impressed with Simpson's first-half performance.
Alabama's offense was unable to consistently move the chains in the first half, recording 70 total yards and three first downs. The Crimson Tide converted just one of their six opportunities on third down.
While Simpson ended the first half with plenty of room for improvement, Alabama's rushing efficiency was also poor. DeBoer's squad amassed a mere 17 yards on nine combined carries.
Daniel Hill served as the leading rusher for the Crimson Tide through two quarters, picking up nine yards on three attempts.
Alabama entered Saturday's contest searching for its second consecutive win against Georgia in 2025 after wrapping up a 24-21 victory over the Bulldogs on Sept. 27.
