247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins compared him to 2025 first-round pick Omarion Hampton.
"A potential star for a College Football Playoff contender as he brings the total package to the table with his burst, power, agility, balance and vision," Ivins said.
He added that Hiter "constantly bounces off defenders or runs through them with a low pad level and seems to always be finding additional chunks of yardage."
Hiter ran for 1,698 yards and 26 touchdowns as a junior and added another 1,207 yards and 18 scores in his senior year.
After watching Hiter's highlight reel from 2024, Maize n Brew's Sam Bernardi said the 5'11, 200-pound back "can do it all."
"As an inside rusher, he does a great job hitting the hole hard and making himself skinny," Bernardi said. That flexibility and fluidity help him evade initial tacklers, and he has the bruising style to punish second-level defenders. ... Hiter is not solely a power back, however. He has outstanding speed, especially once he gets into the secondary."
The Athletic's Austin Meeks posited the Virginia native "could be an instant-impact player at Michigan, especially if Justice Haynes declares for the NFL Draft."
"Haynes, a third-year junior, averaged 122.4 yards per game before injuring his foot against Michigan State," Meeks said. "If Haynes leaves for the NFL, Hiter would have a wide-open path to share carries with Jordan Marshall."
A dominant rushing attack was a hallmark of the Jim Harbaugh era in Ann Arbor, and that has continued with head coach Sherrone Moore. Pro talent evaluators have paid close attention. Chris Evans, Hassan Haskins, Blake Corum and Kalel Mullings were all NFL draft picks.
Haynes, meanwhile, is the No. 80 player on Bleacher Report's 2026 big board, so he could be a Day 2 or 3 pick.
Hiter is the highest-rated running back recruit for Michigan since Kelly Baraka in 2001, per 247Sports. Should he fulfill his potential, he could be the best rusher the Wolverines have seen for a while.
