Ryan Day Says OSU Won 'With Humility' After Viral Video of Attempted Flag-Planting
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day was proud of his team's performance during a 27-9 win over Big Ten rival Michigan on Saturday.
"I've thought, as you can imagine, over the years, after winning this game, what I would say in this press conference," Day told reporters following the victory. "I'm gonna save all those comments because I think the best thing to do is win with humility. That's what we're gonna do.
"I think that speaks to our program and speaks to what it means to be a Buckeye. We wanted to take this rivalry game back this year. The way that our guys played certainly spoke to that. They played with great passion and great physicality."
With the win, the No. 1 Buckeyes snapped a four-game losing streak against the No. 15 Wolverines. Ohio State also remained unbeaten in 2025, improving to 12-0.
The Buckeyes started off slow in "The Game," as a Michigan field goal and subsequent interception from quarterback Julian Sayin allowed the Wolverines to jump out to a 6-3 edge through the first quarter.
Ohio State started to consistently move the chains in the second, taking a 17-9 lead due to touchdown passes from Sayin to Jeremiah Smith and Brandon Inniss.
While the Buckeyes only found the end zone once in the second half, they held Michigan scoreless over the final two quarters in order to preserve the victory.
Sayin finished 19-of-26 for 233 yards and three touchdowns compared to one interception, helping Ohio State amass 419 yards of total offense.
With Michigan in the rearview mirror, the defending national champions will now prepare to face No. 2 Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game on Dec. 6.
