OSU's Jeremiah Smith Appears to Flip Off Michigan Fans on Video After Rivalry Game TD
The intensity of the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry was on full display Saturday, with Jeremiah Smith playing the role of antagonist after his second-quarter touchdown reception.
Smith appeared to flip off a section of Michigan fans at the Big House while celebrating his 35-yard touchdown catch on fourth-and-5 that put Ohio State up 10-6.
The mascots also got involved in the action, with Brutus using the snow falling in Ann Arbor to cross out the "M" in the Michigan logo in the end zone. He also used his artistic ability to write out the script "Ohio" in the snow near one of the end zones.
Smith's play was a huge turning point in the game. Ohio State's offense had been moving the ball early, but some sloppy moments kept the Wolverines on top into the second quarter.
Head coach Ryan Day opted to go for it on fourth down well into Michigan territory, in part because the weather made a field goal attempt that much more difficult.
The move paid off because Smith, back in the lineup after sitting out last week against Rutgers with an injury, beat Michigan cornerback Zeke Berry on a double move to get wide open and into the end zone.
