Where Will Kiffin, Ole Miss Be in CFB Playoff Bracket? Predictions After Egg Bowl Win

Zach BacharNov 28, 2025

No. 7 Ole Miss cruised to a 38-19 win over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl at Davis Wade Stadium on Friday.

With the victory, head coach Lane Kiffin's squad is all but assured a College Football Playoff appearance as one of the CFP selection committee's seven at-large bids.

The Rebels are also still in contention for a spot in the SEC championship game, but would need No. 16 Texas to beat No. 3 Texas A&M as well as Auburn to take down No. 10 Alabama.

Fans and pundits discussed the CFP future of Ole Miss.

The Rebels' CFP push has largely been fueled by their offense and Friday's contest was no different, as it marked the sixth straight game in which they scored at least 30 points.

Ole Miss jumped out to a 14-7 edge in the first quarter and held an 11-point lead at halftime. The first half also featured some extracurricular activities, as a scuffle involving several players broke out following a fumble that was later ruled an incomplete pass.

Both teams traded field goals in the third quarter before the Rebels outscored the Bulldogs 14-6 in the fourth quarter to seal the final result.

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was impressive in the victory, finishing 23-of-34 for 359 yards and four touchdowns without getting picked off.

The Rebels recorded 545 yards of total offense, picking up 29 first downs.

While Kiffin's future remains uncertain after Friday's contest, Ole Miss still seems to be a threat heading into the CFP.
