Lincoln Riley Discusses Future as USC HC Amid Florida, CFB Coaching Carousel Rumors

Mike ChiariNov 26, 2025

Amid rumors of a potential move to Florida, USC head football coach Lincoln Riley insisted Tuesday night that he has no desire to leave the Trojans.

When asked by reporters if he planned on remaining at USC, Riley responded, "Oh yeah, 100 percent. Like I said before, I'm right where I'm supposed to be. I think nothing other than what we're building, literally, and I love being here."

Riley's answer came in the wake of ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit (h/t On3.com's Daniel Hager) saying last week that he heard Riley's name mentioned as a potential head coaching option at Florida if the Gators fail to land Lane Kiffin.

The 42-year-old Riley is in the midst of his fourth season as the head coach at USC following a five-year run as Oklahoma's head coach.

During his time at Oklahoma, Riley went 55-10, won four Big 12 titles and reached the College Football Playoff three times, but he has been unable to replicate that same success at USC thus far.

Under Riley's leadership, the Trojans are 34-17 over the past four seasons, including 8-3 this season.

USC's first season in the Big Ten was something of a struggle in 2024, as the Trojans went 7-6 overall and 4-5 in conference play, but they have shown significant improvement this season, posting a 6-2 mark in Big Ten games.

While last week's 42-27 loss to Oregon essentially ended USC's CFP hopes, the Trojans still have an opportunity to end their season on a high note.

With a win over UCLA in their regular-season finale and a win in their bowl game, the Trojans will win 10 or more games for the second time under Riley and just the second time in the past eight seasons.
