Another eight teams are headed to the World Cup, as UEFA's Scotland, Switzerland, Spain, Austria and Belgium are all in, as well as CONCACAF's Panama, Haiti and Curaçao.

Curaçao earning a spot is particularly impressive as they become the smallest nation to ever qualify for the tournament.

That's now 42 teams out of 48 qualified, with the UEFA playoffs yet to come.

Here's a look at the current field:

Co-hosts: Canada, Mexico, United States

Asia (AFC): Australia, IR Iran, Japan, Jordan, Korea Republic, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan

Africa (CAF): Algeria, Cabo Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia

North American (CONCACAF): Panama, Haiti, Curaçao

South America (CONMEBOL): Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay

Oceania (OFC): New Zealand

Europe (UEFA): Austria, Belgium, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland

A number of other berths were decided on Tuesday.

In CONCACAF's Group A, Panama booked its place in the summer's World Cup. Suriname had an opportunity to clinch its first World Cup appearance, but suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Guatemala.

Curaçao advanced over Jamaica in Group B after both countries wrapped up a 0-0 draw on Tuesday.

In Group C, Haiti qualified over Honduras and Costa Rica to clinch its first World Cup appearance since 1974. Haiti secured its direct berth with a 2-0 win over Nicaragua on Tuesday while Honduras recorded a 0-0 tie against Costa Rica.

Two of the final berths will now be decided in the FIFA Playoff Tournament, with Bolivia, Congo DR, Jamaica, Iraq, Suriname and New Caledonia among the six teams to compete.

The last four berths will be determined from the European Playoffs, with 16 countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czechia, Denmark, Italy, Kosovo, Poland, Republic of Ireland, Slovakia, Türkiye, Ukraine, Wales, Romania, Sweden, Northern Ireland, North Macedonia) still in the mix.
