
Is Deion Sanders on Hot Seat? Colorado AD Addresses Rumors amid 3-7 Record
Colorado athletic director Rick George confirmed that Buffaloes football head coach Deion Sanders isn't in serious danger of being fired despite the team's struggles during the 2025 season.
"The seat is not hot," George wrote in a Tuesday post on X. "We believe in what is ahead for this program."

The Buffaloes fell to 3-7 with a 1-6 record against Big 12 opponents following a 29-22 loss to West Virginia on Nov. 8.
Colorado is now bowl ineligible for the 12th time in 15 seasons and the second time in Sanders' three years leading the program.
The Buffaloes wrapped up a 9-4 finish in 2024 but have struggled to replace the production of key contributors such as Shedeur Sanders, Jimmy Horn Jr. and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.
Colorado sat at 2-2 to open its 2025 campaign following an impressive win over Wyoming on Sept. 20, but the school owns a mere 1-5 record in six games since.
The Buffaloes have struggled offensively, as their averages of 22.0 points and 331.8 yards per game both represent the second-worst marks in the Big 12.
Sanders is confident in his team's ability to bounce back, though.
"Please understand, if anybody is built for adversity, I am," Sanders said Tuesday, per USA Today's Brent Schrotenboer. "If anybody has built to change, I am. If anybody's built to overcome situations and trials and tribulations, I am. You got the right man. I promise you, you do. And I'm gonna prove that to you. I am. Just give me an opportunity and give me a little more time, and I'm gonna prove that to you. I will. I promise you that."
He's already made changes to his staff, as offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur was demoted following a 53-7 loss to Utah on Oct. 25.
The Buffaloes will attempt to put an end to their current three-game losing streak during a matchup with Arizona State on Saturday.
