Latest Heisman Race Odds to Watch and Predictions for 2025 Award
The 2025 Heisman Trophy looks like it will come down to the Big Ten Championship Game.
Fernando Mendoza took over as the Heisman favorite from Julian Sayin after Week 12's results.
The quarterbacks of the Indiana Hoosiers and Ohio State Buckeyes are expected to go head-to-head on the first Saturday in December with the Big Ten title, the Heisman and the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff on the line.
Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed appears to be the biggest threat to the Big Ten duo after Ty Simpson and the Alabama Crimson Tide lost on Saturday.
Fernando Mendoza (-110)
1 of 3
Fernando Mendoza took over as the Heisman favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook after Week 12.
The Indiana quarterback threw for four touchdown passes in a game for the fifth time this season in Saturday's triumph over the Wisconsin Badgers.
Mendoza was also a yard off his second 300-yard passing performance of the campaign.
The Cal transfer now has 30 touchdown passes and 2,641 passing yards in his first season in the Big Ten.
Mendoza will have one more chance to impress Heisman voters before the Big Ten Championship Game on November 28 against the Purdue Boilermakers.
Another big game through the air is expected for Mendoza, but he may not go into Indianapolis as the Heisman favorite since Sayin has a chance to impress on a national stage against the Michigan Wolverines in two weeks.
Julian Sayin ( 180)
2 of 3
Sayin didn't do anything bad against the UCLA Bruins, but he didn't have as big of a stat line as Mendoza did on Saturday.
Sayin threw for 184 yards and a touchdown in a game in which the Buckeyes ran for 222 yards.
The Ohio State quarterback has five fewer touchdown passes than Mendoza, but he has 34 more passing yards than his Indiana counterpart.
Sayin's Heisman hopes will shift in either direction after what he does on November 29 against the Michigan Wolverines.
A standout showing in one of the highest-profile rivalry games should give Sayin a slight boost ahead of Mendoza prior to the Big Ten Championship Game.
The Heisman will likely be decided in Indianapolis, but if the Indiana-Ohio State matchup is close, Sayin could have an edge over Mendoza if he shines against Michigan.
Marcel Reed ( 500)
3 of 3
Marcel Reed stayed alive in the Heisman race thanks to his efforts in Texas A&M come-from-behind win over South Carolina.
Reed finished with a season high 439 passing yards and three touchdowns.
The A&M quarterback now has four straight games with multiple touchdown passes. He's the led the Aggies to three wins over ranked opponents.
A fourth Top 25 triumph over the Texas Longhorns on November 28, plus a win in the SEC Championship Game, would Reed a resume that few can match.
If Reed plays well in both of those games, he can at least challenge the cases that Mendoza and Sayin can make for the Heisman.
