Would Lane Kiffin Consider Leaving Ole Miss for Florida? HC Addresses Gators Rumors

Julia StumbaughNov 16, 2025

Lane Kiffin addressed rumors regarding him potentially leaving Ole Miss for another head coaching job after leading the Rebels to a 34-24 Saturday night win over Florida.

The home victory allowed No. 7 Ole Miss to improve to 10-1 and remain in contention for the program's first College Football Playoff berth.

When asked after the win if he saw this as the "last chapter" of his Ole Miss career, Kiffin answered, "The 'last chapter' thing makes me feel like I'm 80 years old. I don't like being old, so I don't really like that part of the story, that makes me feel like I'm in my last chapter."

Kiffin continued, "I love what we're doing here, and today was awesome. I don't talk about that stuff. And really, to even talk about it right now would be so disrespectful to our players and how well they played today.

"We've got a lot of things going here, doing really well. And I love it here, so."

The Rebels head coach already sparked rumors about his next career move ahead of the game, when he posted a photo of hats stitched with the words "Kiffin 2026" and tagged Ole Miss in the caption.

As the Rebels closed out Saturday's win, which featured a historic 224 rushing-yard performance from Kewan Lacy, chants in support of Kiffin broke out at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Kiffin, who is in his sixth season with Ole Miss, improved his Rebels career record to 54-19 with the win.

His name has come up in multiple rumors regarding college head coaching searches this season, including as a potential successor to Florida's Billy Napier. On3's Pete Nakos reported in October that Kiffin "is at the top of the board" in the Gators' search.

Kiffin has also been connected to job vacancies in the NFL, where The Athletic's Bruce Feldman and Ralph D. Russo recently reported the Tennessee Titans have some interest in him as a replacement for former head coach Brian Callahan.

Ole Miss is currently paying Kiffin $9 million per year on a contract currently running through 2031, per USA Today. If his success with the Rebels continues, however, it's likely the job rumors won't die down until Kiffin makes clear his plans for the 2026 season.
