
Arch Manning, Texas' Playoff Bracket Hopes Discussed By CFB Fans After Loss to UGA
Despite legendary Peyton Manning being in attendance, Arch Manning and No. 10 Texas could not pull off the upset, falling 35-10 on the road to No. 5 Georgia on Saturday.
The SEC loss dropped Texas to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while Georgia improved to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in the SEC.
Texas' Arch Manning threw for 251 yards with one touchdown and one interception, completing 27-of-43 passes and connecting with Ryan Wingo for the team's lone score.
Georgia's Gunner Stockton had a standout night, finishing with 229 yards and four touchdowns, one interception, and completing 83 percent of his passes.
The loss does not fall solely on Arch Manning, Texas was outcoached on Saturday, and their defense failed to provide the spark needed to hold Georgia in the fourth quarter.
Arch Manning and Texas struggled to mount an offensive push, leaving fans frustrated.
Texas remained within striking distance at halftime, trailing 14-3 after an opening-drive field goal. Early in the second half, a Stockton interception set up a Texas touchdown, closing the gap to 14-10 heading into the final quarter.
Georgia pulled away in the fourth quarter, scoring on back-to-back touchdown drives following a successful onside kick and adding another touchdown on a 3:06 drive, all while holding Texas scoreless in the final frame.
Texas will look to rebound as they host Arkansas next Saturday.
