Will Kenny Dillingham Leave ASU? Sun Devils HC Addresses LSU, Florida, Auburn Rumors
Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham responded to rumors connecting him to several current vacancies at opposing schools.
"I was never leaving, Greg," Dillingham told reporters Saturday (h/t On3.com's Daniel Hager). "Contrary to the betrayal article, I was never leaving. I never said I was leaving. This is home. You do have to continue to push, and my job running the program is to push and push and push until you can't push anymore. And if I didn't do that I'd be cheating my players, I'd be cheating my staff."
Dillingham also expressed his support for the Arizona State administration.
"I have a lot of confidence in our administration," Dillingham told reporters. "They're pushing the chips to the middle of the table on winning in football here. You know, the conversations we have, I think everyone needs to understand this university is supporting football. This university is really doubling down on what we're doing right now, and that's such a relief."
Dillingham has been linked to schools searching for a new head coach such as LSU, Florida and Auburn.
The 35-year-old is in the midst of his third season patrolling the sidelines for Arizona State, his alma mater. Dillingham has quickly turned the Sun Devils around, going from a 3-9 record in 2023 to an impressive 11-3 mark that included a Big 12 title and College Football Playoff appearance in 2024.
This season, Arizona State sits at 7-3 after wrapping up a 25-23 victory over West Virginia on Saturday.
As the Sun Devils continue their pursuit of a second consecutive Big 12 championship, a change of scenery for Dillingham doesn't seem to be in the near future.
