Does Anthony Davis Want a Trade from Mavs? John Wall Floats Landing Spot Amid Rumors

Doric SamNov 13, 2025

The future of star big man Anthony Davis with the Dallas Mavericks remains in question after this week's firing of general manager Nico Harrison.

During an appearance on Run It Back, former NBA star and fellow Kentucky alum John Wall said he feels that Davis' time in Dallas will come to an end soon, and he named the Chicago Bulls as a potential landing spot for him.

"I wish he was healthy so they could try to see what they have and wait till Kyrie [Irving] comes back. But I think at this point, AD is probably done with it," Wall said. "I don't want to speak for him, but he probably wants to move forward. You can't believe everything you hear on the news, but you been hearing he wants to go back to Chicago and see what's going on."

Davis suffered a calf injury and has missed the last seven games for the Mavs, who fell to 3-9 with a 123-114 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night. Dallas has also been without Irving, its star point guard, while he recovers from his torn ACL.

ESPN's Tim MacMahon said on a recent episode of The Hoop Collective podcast (15:20 mark) that he feels Mavs governor Patrick Dumont will "at least" hold discussions about trading Davis. A move like that would make it clear that it was a huge mistake to allow Harrison to trade star point guard Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers last season.

When healthy, Davis can be one of the best players in the league, so it could be best for the Mavs to wait it out and see how they perform with their full squad intact. A hasty trade can result in a minimal return, which would surely disappoint a Dallas fan base that has been starving for some positivity.
