Wizards' Trae Young Makes Cryptic Post Amid Anthony Davis, NBA Trade Rumors

Zach BacharJun 30, 2026

Washington Wizards point guard Trae Young posted a cryptic message on X as free agency started on Tuesday.

Young's post occurred just under three hours after ESPN's Marc J. Spears reported that the Wizards were not interested in trading Anthony Davis and weren't listening to trade offers involving Davis either.

Washington acquired both players in separate trades during the 2025-26 season, adding Young in a deal with the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 7 before landing Davis as part of a swap with the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 4.

While they never shared the floor together as Davis was sidelined with a hand injury, Young was excited to eventually play alongside his new star teammate.

"Obviously I've never played with a player as talented or as special as AD is," Young told reporters in April.

"I already know he's going to make my life easier," he added. "Having someone that can demand a double-team like that is honestly the first that I've had since I've played in the NBA. Being able to have that type of engine on your team is going to unlock everybody's game, even mine."

The Wizards already made a hefty financial commitment to Young, as both sides agreed to a four-year contract worth $212 million on June 22.

The four-time All-Star only appeared in 15 total games last season due to multiple health issues, although he's just one year removed from a 2024-25 campaign in which he averaged 24.2 points and 11.6 assists per game on 41.1/34.0/87.5 shooting splits.

Washington is attempting to end a five-year playoff drought next season with Young and Davis starting alongside AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft.
