Patrick Mahomes Hypes Jacob Rodriguez As Heisman Contender After Texas Tech Beats BYU
Patrick Mahomes called for Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez to enter the Heisman Trophy conversation following the school's 29-7 win over BYU on Saturday.
The Kansas City Chiefs superstar, who played quarterback for the Red Raiders during his college days, wanted Rodriguez to travel to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony at the end of the season.
"Get him to New York!" Mahomes wrote in a post on X, via the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Rodriguez was impressive against the Cougars, finishing with a game-high 14 tackles. He also racked up one tackle for loss, one interception and one fumble recovery.
His performance was a key reason why BYU was only able to amass 255 total yards, converting a mere three of 14 opportunities on third down.
Rodriguez has stood out for the Red Raiders throughout the year, as he entered Saturday's action with 77 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss to go along with one sack. He also recorded two interceptions, while his seven forced fumbles are the most in the country.
Simply becoming a Heisman Trophy finalist would be an impressive accomplishment for Rodriguez, as no linebacker has ever won the award.
