Kyle Shanahan 'Pretty Confident' Brock Purdy Will Return from Turf Toe Injury in 2025
Brock Purdy hasn't suited up since late September because of a turf toe injury, but San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said he doesn't expect the injury to keep Purdy out for the rest of the season.
When asked if he's confident about Purdy returning this season, Shanahan said he's "pretty confident we'll see him this year." Shanahan added that the team will make a decision on Friday about whether the quarterback will play against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Purdy suffered the injury in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks and was sidelined for two games. He made his initial return in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but faced a setback in that loss and has been week-to-week ever since.
Shanahan said last week that Purdy had "a chance" to play against the New York Giants, but he ultimately didn't suit up.
At his best, Purdy is an MVP-caliber player capable of leading a team to the Super Bowl, but he may not be that version of himself if he's not yet at 100 percent.
Luckily for the Niners, they don't have to rush Purdy back onto the field, considering how well his backup, Mac Jones, has been playing. Jones, who joined the team this offseason after spending last year with the Jaguars, has thrown for 1,832 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions in seven starts.
The 49ers have gone 5-2 with Jones under center and currently sit at 6-3 on the year, which has them in third place in the NFC West. Last week, Jones had 235 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 34-24 win over the Giants.
San Francisco has dealt with various injuries this year, including to key players like George Kittle, Nick Bosa and Fred Warner, so the fact that Jones even has the 49ers in the playoff race is impressive.
As good as Jones has been, having Purdy healthy ahead of the postseason would be crucial.
