Purdy initially suffered the turf toe injury during the 49ers' 17-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, causing him to miss their next two games.
While Purdy returned in time for San Francisco's Week 4 defeat at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars, he revealed that he was dealing with soreness in his toe after the game.
He went on to miss each of the team's next four contests.
Injury woes weren't a common occurrence for Purdy prior to his 2025 campaign, as he suited up in 31 of a possible 34 regular-season contests across the past two years. One missed game was also due to rest purposes to close out the 2023 regular season.
In Purdy's two appearances this year, he's completed 65.8 percent of his throws for 586 yards and four touchdowns. He's also been picked off four times.
The 49ers' passing attack has experienced several injuries in 2025, with wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall all missing multiple games during the season.
San Francisco still sits at 5-3 to open the year largely due to the efforts of Jones, who has helped lead the team to a 4-2 record when filling in for Purdy under center.
