Pujols Moves Up to 15th Place on All-Time Home Runs List
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols made the most of Monday's doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox, hitting three home runs in the two games to move past Mike Schmidt for sole possession of 15th place on the all-time home runs list, per ESPN Stats & Info.
Entering the day with 546 career home runs, Pujols hit a solo shot off of Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez in the second inning of Monday's first game, giving the Angels a 7-0 lead on the rookie's final pitch of the day.
Pujols then pulled even with Schmidt at 548 homers when he hit another solo blast—this time off of Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright—in the second inning of the second game.

Pujols is the first Angels player since Garrett Anderson in 1995 to homer in both games of a doubleheader, per MLB Stat of the Day.
Still not done, Pujols hit his third solo homer of the day off of Red Sox reliever Alexi Ogando in the seventh inning, giving the Angels a 7-2 lead while grabbing sole possession of 15th place on the all-time list.
Monday's barrage gave Pujols an MLB-leading 29 home runs this season, with 26 of those coming since the start of May.
Although his batting average (.260) and on-base percentage (.326) still fall well short of his typical marks from his peak years in St. Louis, the 35-year-old first baseman is, shockingly, on pace for 51 home runs, which would top his previous career-best mark of 49 (2006).
