5-Star QB Kavian Bryant Commits to Texas Tech over Texas, Colorado, More

Texas Tech reportedly landed a major commitment on Saturday.

According to On3.com's Hayes Fawcett, 5-star quarterback prospect Kavian Bryant committed to the Red Raiders.

Bryant received offers from schools including Auburn, Colorado, Florida State, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin before choosing Texas Tech (via 247Sports).

Bryant is listed as the No. 2 quarterback and No. 28 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

The signal-caller explained why he chose to join head coach Joey McGuire's program following his decision.

"They reached out the most," Bryant told ESPN's Eli Lederman. "They came with the best offer and the best opportunity for me to play. I just feel like it's the best fit."

"They really, really wanted me," he added. "They watch my film every day. They show me what I'm good at and what I'm bad at, and I just listen. It's part of why they're the best."

Bryant showcased his dual-threat capabilities during his sophomore year at Palestine Westwood High School in Texas, completing 82.2 percent of his throws for 2,442 yards and 34 touchdowns compared to just three interceptions in 12 games (h/t 247Sports' Gabe Brooks).

He also rushed for 709 yards and 11 scores, averaging 12.2 yards per carry.

Bryant is the latest addition to a 2027 Texas Tech recruiting class that also includes defensive linemen Jalen Brewster, K'Adrian Redmond and Antonio Underwood.

As for the 2025 Red Raiders, they improved to 8-1 with a 43-20 win over Kansas State on Saturday.
