JMU Reveals Marvel Super Hero-Themed Helmets in Photo for Washington State Game

James Madison will attempt to channel the power of The Avengers when it hosts Washington State for its home finale on Nov. 22.

The Dukes unveiled the special helmets they'll wear for the game. While one side will have JMU's logo, the other will feature one of five Marvel characters as selected by each player:

The school is doing a pair of giveaways to celebrate the occasion as well. The first 15,000 fans at Bridgeforth Stadium will get a collectible poster, and 2,000 commemorative hats will be distributed.

James Madison improved its record to 7-1 with a 52-20 victory over Texas State on Tuesday night. Depending on how the next two games go, the school may not need any special promotions to generate excitement for the Washington State contest.

The Dukes are on the periphery of the national rankings, receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 and Coaches Poll.

One spot in the College Football Playoff is set aside for a Group of Five representative, and South Florida's upset at the hands of Memphis has blown that race wide open.

As things stand, the Tigers are the likeliest candidate to snag the G5 berth. Should JMU stay at one loss, there's at least a chance Bob Chesney's squad could be in the playoff conversation. The stakes for the Dukes could be as high as they get when they welcome in the Cougars.
