LeBron James Announces Children's Book 'Happy Spooky Halloween' Releasing in 2026
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is releasing a Halloween-themed children's book in time for fall 2026.
"Happy Spooky Halloween" is set to be published on July 21, 2026, James announced Thursday.
"This is a bucket list item for me for real," James wrote on social media, adding that he was a faithful middle-school reader of R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series.
"Happy Spooky Halloween," illustrated by Ariel Landy, is described by publisher HarperCollins as "a spooktacular picture book about teamwork and Halloween thrills."
According to HarperCollins, the book's main character Zara and her friends find a Halloween party being thrown at their elementary school is "a little too spooky."
"The vibes are so scary that Zara and the younger kids worry they won't be able to have fun," the Harper Collins blurb reads. "Will the students—big and small—learn to work together to throw the perfect party?"
James made his debut as a children's book author in 2020, when he and illustrator Niña Mata published "I Promise." He and Mata later combined again for the 2024 release of "I Am More Than."
The Lakers star has also expanded into middle-grade fiction with co-author Andrea Williams for the 2021 publication of "We Are Family."
James is currently sidelined by sciatica in his right side and has yet to make his 2025-26 debut. When he returns to the court for the Lakers, he is expected to become the first player in NBA history to compete in a 23rd season.
