Nick Saban Says He's 'Not Interested' in CFB Return, 'I Want to Stay Retired'
Legendary former Alabama head coach Nick Saban isn't focused on patrolling the sidelines once again.
Saban confirmed that he's "not interested" in a return to coaching college football during a Friday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, per On3.com's Daniel Hager.
"I want to stay retired," he said, via Hager.
Saban currently serves as a college football analyst for ESPN after announcing his retirement as head coach of the Crimson Tide at the end of the 2023 season.
His tenure at Alabama was stellar, amassing 201 wins and earning 13 SEC championships. Saban also won six of his seven national titles while leading the Crimson Tide, with his most recent coming during the 2020 season.
Given his immensely successful track record in college, it's understandable that schools with recent vacancies at head coach might be interested in hiring him.
Penn State, Florida, Arkansas, UCLA and Virginia Tech have all fired their head coaches during the 2025 season so far.
Saban's wife, Terry, previously addressed speculation surrounding her husband potentially taking over as head coach of the Nittany Lions.
As for Nick, he's repeatedly expressed his desire to remain retired and avoid a pursuit of another college coaching role.
While several schools are on the lookout for new faces to lead their football programs, Saban doesn't seem to be a realistic candidate.
