Bill Belichick UNC Documentary to Be Aired By NC TV Station Amid Rumors on Struggles

There will be a documentary about Bill Belichick's first season as the head coach of North Carolina football after all.

On Monday, WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina, announced it will release a documentary on the Tar Heels' 2025 campaign at the end of the year.

The reveal comes amid reporting that the originally scheduled docuseries with EverWonder and Hulu was no longer going to be released.

North Carolina's contract with EverWonder Studio gave Belichick the right to end his participation with the documentary that was intended for Hulu. WRAL reported the show is no longer in development plans.

"Before the start of the 2025 NCAA football season, UNC and EverWonder Studio, LLC entered into an agreement allowing EverWonder access to film and produce a documentary about the UNC Football program with the intent it would be a multi-episode series streaming on Hulu," a university spokesperson said, per WRAL. "UNC and EverWonder have paused production but remain in contact with the possibility of continuing in the future."

While that docuseries is no longer planned, fans will still get an opportunity to see a documentary about the Tar Heels' season thanks to WRAL's involvement.

And what a season it has been.

Belichick arrived with plenty of fanfare seeing how he is a six-time Super Bowl champion and arguably the greatest coach in football history. However, North Carolina is just 2-4 overall and 0-2 in ACC play.

Its lone wins came against overmatched Charlotte and Richmond, and its losses to TCU, UCF and Clemson came by a combined 87 points.

That is just on the field, as Belichick also confirmed a report saying the New England Patriots were banned from North Carolina's facilities. An assistant coach was suspended for an NCAA rules violation, per Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, and an extensive report from Pat Welter of WRAL highlighted potential problems within the program.

Welter reported that "multiple sources with knowledge of the inner workings of Belichick's program say the results on the field are a product of a divided locker room, a disorganized coaching staff and a failure to communicate."

There are still six games remaining, but there will now be a documentary to capture however it plays out.
