Arch Manning Earns Signature Win for Texas as Fans Applaud Rivalry Win over No. 6 OU

The unranked Texas Longhorns, led by Arch Manning, defeated No. 6 Oklahoma 23-6 in the Allstate Red River Rivalry on Saturday in Dallas, Texas.

Oklahoma fell to 5-1 on the season and 1-1 in the SEC, while Texas improved to 4-2 overall and evened its conference record at 1-1.

Manning completed 21-of-27 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown, connecting with DeAndre Moore Jr. for a 50-yard score. Running back Quintrevion Wisner added 94 yards on 22 carries, while defensive back Ryan Niblett returned a punt for a touchdown.

Oklahoma's Tate Sandell opened the game with a field goal on the Sooners' first drive to take a 3-0 lead. Mateer was picked off in the waning stages of the opening period, but the Longhorns failed to capitalize after missing a 55-yard field goal, leaving Oklahoma ahead 3-0 after 15 minutes.

Both teams exchanged field goals to start the second quarter, and Mateer's struggles continued as he threw his second interception of the half. The Sooners escaped unscathed from the turnover with just two seconds remaining and held a 6-3 advantage at halftime.

Texas dominated the third quarter, controlling the clock with two long possessions and scoring on both. The Longhorns first found the end zone on a Manning-to-Moore connection, then added a 48-yard field goal, while holding Oklahoma to a three-and-out, taking a 13-6 lead into the fourth quarter.

Mateer threw his third interception to start the fourth quarter, and although Texas missed a field goal, Niblett returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown to extend the Longhorns' lead to 20-6. Texas added a field goal for insurance with just under three minutes left in the game and took the win, 23-6.

Texas will travel to Kentucky for their next game on Saturday.
