Schottenheimer Says Cowboys Are 'Spoiled' to Have Dak Prescott QB After Win vs. Jets

Adam WellsOct 5, 2025

Don't look now but the Dallas Cowboys are making some noise in the NFC, thanks in large part to the stellar play of Dak Prescott, who was impressive again with four touchdown passes in a 37-22 win over the New York Jets on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer explained they are "spoiled" to have Prescott as their quarterback.

"I think we're spoiled," said Schottenheimer. "I think he's one of the best players in the league. He's playing with a ton of confidence."

Prescott finished 18-of-29 for 237 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He hasn't committed a turnover in his last two games.

There is a lot of justified criticism of the way Jerry Jones manages the roster in Dallas, but Prescott is a stabilizing force for the franchise amid all of the chaos happening around him.

The Cowboys certainly haven't solved their defensive issues. They still allowed 144 rushing yards on just 22 carries to the Jets, but it didn't matter because of how reliable the offense. They scored on four of their five possessions in the first half.

Two of Dallas' touchdown drives in the second quarter went at least 90 yards. Prescott entered the week ranked fourth in the NFL with a 74.2 QBR, behind Daniel Jones, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.

For comparison, two years ago when he finished second in MVP voting, Prescott's QBR was 73.4. He has also been doing this without CeeDee Lamb for basically the last three games due to an ankle injury.

Lamb did start in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears, but he only played seven snaps before suffering the injury. Ryan Flournoy, who had 14 career receptions entering Sunday, led the Cowboys with 114 yards on six catches against the Jets.

Everything Prescott is doing for the offense right now is working. He has been instrumental in the Cowboys (2-2-1) climbing within one game in the loss column of the Philadelphia Eagles, who suffered their first defeat of the season on Sunday, in the NFC East standings.

There's still a long way to go this season and the leaky defense will continue to be a problem, but Prescott has given the Cowboys a chance to win almost every game so far.
