New NBA Rumors on Timeline for James Harden, Draymond Green's Contracts With Cavs, Warriors

James Harden and Draymond Green are reportedly both expected to sign contracts to remain with their 2025-26 teams in the near future.

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, there is an "anticipation" within the NBA that Harden and Green will get deals done this week to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors, respectively.

Both players declined player options for next season to give their teams a chance to pursue LeBron James in free agency, but now that he has chosen to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, it paves the way for Harden and Green to run it back with their respective teams.

Harden, a 36-year-old 11-time All-Star and one-time MVP, was acquired by the Cavs from the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2025-26 season.

In 26 games for the Cavaliers, Harden averaged 20.5 points, 7.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. He also helped take them to the Eastern Conference Finals where they were swept by the eventual NBA champion New York Knicks.

Per Fischer, it is expected that Harden's new deal with the Cavs will include no more than two guaranteed years, although his salary remains in question since Cleveland is still pursuing free-agent forward Jonathan Kuminga as well.

The 36-year-old Green is a four-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion who has spent his entire 14-year NBA career with the Warriors.

Best known for his defensive capabilities, Green averaged 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game last season.

According to Fischer, Green and the Warriors have discussed multiple structures for a new deal, including a one-year contract worth close to the $27.7 million player option he declined, and a multi-year deal that carries a lower average salary.

Green is also eligible for a full no-trade clause, although it is unclear if that will potentially be part of his contract.
