Eagles' A.J. Brown Says Post Wasn't Directed at Jalen Hurts or Coaches, 'Love it Here'

Timothy RappOct 1, 2025

Philadelphia Eagles wideout A.J. Brown raised some eyebrows with a cryptic post on social media following Sunday's 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a game that saw him register just two catches for seven yards.

On Wednesday, he cleared up the matter, saying it wasn't directed at head coach Nick Sirianni, offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, quarterback Jalen Hurts or anybody else within the organization.

"Obviously, Sunday after the game I let my frustrations boil over. I didn't speak to the media. ... My message truly wasn't directed at anyone in the building. Not my coaches, not my quarterback, general manager, nobody. I take full accountability."

Brown added that he is happy in Philadelphia despite some surprisingly low usage through the first four games of the season:

Brown's message read:  "If you're not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don't make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way."

That most dire reading of a post like that was Brown potentially desiring a trade, which would have been a stunning turn of events after winning the Super Bowl with Philly in the 2024 campaign.

The 2025 season has gotten off to an odd start for Brown and the team's passing attack in general, however. The veteran wideout is tied for second on the team in receptions (14) and is second in receiving yards (151), though he does lead the Birds in targets (28).

But outside of a fantastic performance against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3 (six catches for 109 yards and a score), it's been a very quiet year on the field for Brown.

Brown hasn't necessarily been quiet off the field, however, but Sirianni downplayed the situation on Monday.

"Obviously, A.J. is very important to this football team," he told reporters. "I know he wants to contribute and do the things he's capable of doing. He wants to contribute into these wins, and he's had a couple games where he hasn't been able to for different reasons. I question nothing about his desire to play great football, his desire of being a good teammate, his desire to be here."
