Billy Napier Put on Hot Seat by CFB Fans as No. 13 Florida Gets Upset by Unranked USF

No. 13 Florida couldn't avoid an upset loss on Saturday, falling to USF by the final score of 18-16 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The Bulls secured the surprising victory with a game-winning field goal as time expired.

Following the unexpected defeat, fans questioned the job security of Florida head coach Billy Napier, and students who attended the game were even chanting "Fire Billy" as they exited the stadium.

The Gators struggled offensively to open the game, but still held a 9-6 lead at halftime.

USF eventually jumped in front with a touchdown in the third quarter and built upon its advantage after a bad snap on a Florida punt resulted in a safety that put the team in a 15-9 deficit.

The Gators took the lead again with a touchdown of their own early in the fourth, but were forced to punt on their next possession.

As the Bulls started their final drive of the game, they were helped out due to a 15-yard penalty that stemmed from Gators defensive lineman Brendan Bett spitting on USF offensive lineman Cole Skinner. Bett was also ejected.

Penalties were an issue for the Gators throughout the contest, as they were flagged 11 times for 103 yards.

Napier also had multiple timeouts remaining on USF's final drive, but waited to use them until the Bulls were deep in Florida's territory and only 22 seconds remained in the fourth quarter.

The Gators entered the year with high expectations and opened the season with a dominant 55-0 win over LIU on Aug. 30, but they've now started 1-1 for the fourth straight year under Napier.
