FSU CFB Wears Wristbands in Support of Ethan Pritchard After Freshman Was Shot in Head
Florida State's football team is supporting linebacker Ethan Pritchard, who was shot in Florida on Aug. 31, during Saturday's game against East Texas A&M.
Seminoles players are wearing No. 35 wristbands as part of their uniform.
Florida State announced on Monday that Pritchard was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot while visiting his family in Havana, Florida.
Per the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office (h/t ESPN's Andrea Adelson), Pritchard was in a vehicle outside an apartment building when the shooting occurred.
Earl Pritchard, Ethan's father, told WFTV News in Orlando that his son was shot in the back of the head and doctors were monitoring him for swelling in his brain.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell confirmed that Pritchard was in stable condition and he was able to visit him in the hospital for a short time:
"I was able to go by yesterday for a short period of time with limited visitation, just getting a chance to be there for a handful of minutes. It was good to be with him. ... We are absolutely praying for him every day and trying to be there for our players, too. Yes, it's one thing on the field, but it's also off the field, that's one of their brothers and a guy they deeply care about. Just working through this part of the tragedy of what it is."
A freshman who enrolled at Florida State in January, Pritchard did not play in the Seminoles' victory over Alabama on Aug. 30.
Florida State is hosting East Texas A&M at Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday.
