Arch Manning's Heisman Trophy Betting Odds Plummet After Texas' Week 1 Loss to OSU
Texas quarterback Arch Manning is no longer the betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy now that the Longhorns are off to a 0-1 start to the 2025 season.
Manning's odds dropped after Texas' 14-7 loss to Ohio State on Saturday, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who struggled with two early drops in Saturday's game, meanwhile, remained in the top three behind LSU's Garrett Nussmeier and Clemson's Cade Klubnik.
Here's a look at the players with top Heisman odds as of Saturday afternoon, per DraftKings.
2025-26 Heisman Trophy Winner Odds (via DraftKings)
Garrett Nussmeier, LSU +700
Cade Klubnik, Clemson +700
Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State +1200
Carson Beck, Miami +1400
Arch Manning, Texas +1400
LaNorris Sellers, North Carolina +1600
Drew Allar, Penn State +1800
Sam Leavitt, Arizona State +1800
Julian Sayin, Ohio State +1800
DJ Lagway, Florida +2000
Ty Simpson, Alabama +2000
Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame +2200
Dante Moore, Oregon +2500
John Mateer, Oklahoma +2500
These odds might look significantly different by the time Heisman Trophy ballots are handed out to electors in December.
Former Colorado two-way star and reigning trophy winner Travis Hunter, for example, was ranked below quarterbacks like Dillon Gabriel and Carson Beck on initial odds lists early in the 2024 season.
Manning, who spent his last two seasons at Texas backing up Quinn Ewers, is also earning early Heisman hype more through his potential than through what he's accomplished so far in his college career.
The 21-year-old will need to take a step forward from Saturday's start, during which he went 17-of-30 for 170 yards with a touchdown and an interception, in order to maintain his status as a player likely to be celebrated as the top player in the sport.
Manning and the Longhorns will look to earn their first win of the season when Texas returns to action for next Saturday's home opener against San Jose State.
