The Ohio State Buckeyes delivered a defensive masterclass to open their College Football Playoff title defense.
Ohio State held Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns to seven points. The lone touchdown from the visitors occurred late in the fourth quarter.
The Buckeyes held Heisman Trophy preseason favorite Manning to 17-for-30 and 170 passing yards in his first season opener as Texas' starting quarterback.
A handful of OSU's returning starters chipped in with key plays against Manning and the Texas offense.
Saturday's incredible defensive performance got plenty of fans excited for OSU's title defense.
Ohio State should be No. 1 in the polls for quite some time. The Buckeyes' next major test does not come until November 1 against the Penn State Nittany Lions, who opened the season at No. 2 in the AP poll.
