Anthony Edwards Says He Would Dunk on Yao Ming After Taking Photo with NBA Legend

Scott PolacekAug 25, 2025

Yao Ming is 7'6" and a Hall of Famer after his legendary NBA career, but that wasn't about to stop Anthony Edwards from talking some trash.

The Minnesota Timberwolves star met Ming and took a picture with him before he posted on Threads, "I wud dunk on Yao shout out to one of da greats."

The Timberwolves had some fun with the interaction:

Frankly, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Edwards didn't miss a chance to talk trash about Ming.

After all, he is known as one of the biggest trash talkers in the league who didn't even hesitate to tell former President Barack Obama, "I'm the truth," during a memorable part of Netflix's docuseries Court of Gold about the Olympic men's basketball tournament.

Jrue Holiday said Edwards was "100 percent" the biggest trash talker on the American team in the 2024 Games.

The Timberwolves star is just 24 years old with five seasons in the league, but it takes an entire highlight montage to even begin to capture how much he talks trash on the floor:

He also could very well be right about Ming. While the big man was an eight-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA selection who averaged 1.9 blocks per game during his career, Edwards is also a dominant dunker who can soar through the air at any moment.

There would have to be plenty of soaring to dunk over Ming, but if anyone in the current NBA can do it, it's Edwards.
