Anthony Edwards Told Barack Obama 'I'm the Truth' in Viral 'Court of Gold' Video

Anthony Edwards has never lacked confidence in any situation, as evidenced by his comments to former President Barack Obama.

In a viral clip from the Netflix docuseries Court of Gold about the Olympic men's basketball tournament, Edwards is seen telling Obama "I'm the truth" when the former President is asking Joel Embiid what he thinks of Edwards' game.

Speaking to Variety's Jordan Moreau, director Jake Rogal explained the moment they caught between Edwards and Obama was authentic because all of the players can't help but be themselves no matter what situation they are in:

"Every moment that we had that was entertaining was in the cut. There was nothing that we left on the floor. With President Obama in particular, those guys are on their best behavior, of course, but what makes these NBA superstars who they are is they’re unapologetically themselves almost at all times, no matter who’s in the room. That moment with Anthony Edwards and President Obama was real. That’s how they’re talking when the cameras aren’t there. The fact that our cameras were there and they were willing to be themselves was cool for us to capture. When those cameras turned off, that’s what the conversation looks like. Anthony is totally himself, no matter who you are, and President Obama knows how to disarm and let people feel comfortable."

Edwards made his first appearance for Team USA in the Olympics last summer. He was one of the standout players on a roster headlined by Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

The Minnesota Timberwolves star even went so far as to say he was "the number one option" on that roster.

While that was a bold proclamation, it didn't look that foolish by the end of the tournament. Edwards averaged 12.8 points on 58.0 percent shooting in just 16.3 minutes per game during the six-game run in the Olympics.

Edwards had the highest scoring average on the team among players who averaged fewer than 20 minutes per game. His 26 points in the victory over Puerto Rico was the second-highest individual total by a Team USA player in the tournament, trailing only Curry's 36-point outing in the semifinal against Serbia.

It takes a man of great confidence to casually tell the former President of the United States he's the truth on the court. Edwards not only has the confidence to get away with it, but his performance on the NBA and world stage has consistently backed it up.
