Carson Beck Reportedly Impressed Miami Teammates in Spring Camp, OC Dawson 'Loves' QB
Miami quarterback Carson Beck, who transferred from Georgia this offseason, is turning heads with his new team.
"[Offensive coordinator] Shannon [Dawson] loves him," a source told Pete Nakos of On3. "He thinks he has another No. 1 pick in Carson."
Beck didn't quite take the jump expected of him last year with the Bulldogs, throwing for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 64.7 percent of his passes. His yards, completion percentage and interceptions were all worse marks than what he managed in 2023, and an elbow injury suffered in the SEC Championship Game kept him out of the College Football Playoff.
He joined the transfer portal in January and was on the open market for all of one day before joining Miami, where he will replace the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Cam Ward.
And it sounds as though he's hit the ground running. Nakos reported that there is "confidence around the Miami program about what the Georgia transfer can accomplish on the field" and that "sources have praised how he has picked up Dawson's offense. He's looked comfortable and has not had a problem spreading to his cast of running backs and wide receivers."
