According to a press release from the Walton County (Florida) Sheriff's Office, Kromer was arrested after allegedly punching a minor in the face and threatening to kill his family Saturday night. Kromer and his son allegedly confronted three boys over the use of beach chairs. Authorities say Kromer then threw a fishing pole the boys were using into the water before throwing one down to the ground and punching him in the face.
He was arrested Sunday morning and charged with misdemeanor battery. A source close to Kromer told Fox Sports' Alex Marvez that the police depiction "may not be completely accurate": "It was dark out. He couldn't see the people. The kids were belligerent and threatened him. Bottom line, they stole his property and he couldn't identify them because it was dark out and they threatened him."
Kromer, 48, joined the Bills' coaching staff in January after the team hired head coach Rex Ryan. He previously served as the Chicago Bears' offensive coordinator from 2013-14 and has worked as an offensive assistant in the NFL since 2001.
If convicted, Kromer will be subject to the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy and may face a suspension from Commissioner Roger Goodell.
