76ers' Joel Embiid Says 'We Don't Have a Timeline' for Return from Knee Injury
Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid painted a vague outlook regarding his recovery from arthroscopic surgery on his bothersome left knee.
While speaking to ESPN's Dotun Akintoye, Embiid revealed that it's still unclear when he will be able to return to the court.
"We don't have a timeline," Embiid said. "Hopefully, sooner rather than later."

Every Team's Biggest Regret This Season 😞
Embiid was limited to just 19 games during the 2024-25 season. He missed the start of the year due to ongoing discomfort in his knee, and in the brief time that he was healthy, he was far from his usual dominant self with averages of 23.8 points and 8.2 rebounds. He was shut down for good at the end of February, and he underwent a procedure on his left knee in April.
Amid Embiid's lost year, the Sixers finished with a disappointing 24-58 record and failed to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
Akintoye noted that Sixers president Daryl Morey previously said that he was "hopeful Embiid would be back in time for training camp in September." However, the 2023 NBA MVP isn't looking to rush his recovery.
"I don't know how they feel. The only thing I'd say is -- this is a business," Embiid said when asked if the Sixers support his patient approach to his recovery. "It's all about the results. … If I come back early enough and I'm still not myself, guess what? You're not winning any games."
