
Michigan QB Bryce Underwood Reveals He Gained 15 Pounds, 'It's Made Me More Explosive'
Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood revealed that he gained weight ahead of his highly anticipated freshman season.
"I came in at 215. I weigh 230 right now," Underwood told Clayton Sayfie of On3.com. "I feel like it’s made me more explosive. They help with our speed and everything like that, so I feel faster than I usually do.”
Expectations are high for Underwood after he was listed as the No. 1 prospect in the country for the 2025 recruiting class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

He initially committed to LSU before joining Michigan instead, reportedly receiving a name, image and likeness contract offer worth roughly $10 million from the Wolverines.
Underwood is coming off an impressive 2024 season at Belleville High School, completing over 71 percent of his throws for 2,509 yards and 32 touchdowns compared to just six interceptions (h/t 247Sports' Andrew Ivins).
He also rushed for over 600 yards and six scores.
Underwood is in a competition with Fresno State transfer Mikey Keene for the Wolverines' starting quarterback job in 2025, but he appears to have an edge in the position battle.
As Michigan looks to build upon a record of 8-5 in its first year under head coach Sherrone Moore, Underwood has put on weight to prepare for his upcoming 2025 campaign.
