Giannis Says He'll 'Probably' Stay, 'I Love Milwaukee' amid Bucks, NBA Trade Rumors

Despite the rampant rumors that he could be traded this offseason, Milwaukee Bucks star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo seems to expect that he will be staying put.

During a live stream with IShowSpeed, Antetokounmpo was asked if he feels he will remain with the Bucks for the 2025-26 season, and he answered affirmatively.

"Probably. Probably, we'll see. Probably, I love Milwaukee," Antetokounmpo said.

Antetokounmpo also said people around him have suggested he should go to the New York Knicks.

"A lot of people have tried to convince me, try to convince me to go and play there [New York] and stuff," Antetokounmpo said.

After the Bucks were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round for the third consecutive year, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on May 12 that Antetokounmpo was "open-minded about exploring whether his best long-term fit is remaining in Milwaukee or playing elsewhere." However, it was just a month later that ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported that there was "no trade market" for the two-time NBA MVP, as he was not trying to force his way out and Milwaukee was "not looking" to move him.

Bucks head coach Doc Rivers later ripped the rumors of a potential trade involving Antetokounmpo.

"It’s so ridiculous. And I’ve heard all these reports, you hear all this stuff but you don’t like it when you hear it because you know it’s not true, Bill. But still, your players hear it and everybody else hears it," Rivers said during an appearance on The Bill Simmons Show. "... I don’t know how many more times Giannis has to say he wants to be a Buck and he wants to win a title with the Bucks and it’s so cool to me because it’s not the way it’s done anymore."

The Bucks are a team in transition following the surprising release of star point guard Damian Lillard, who is likely to miss the entire 2025-26 season while recovering from a torn Achilles. Milwaukee has improved around the margins with the addition of veteran center Myles Turner, but the team has a lot of work to do if it wants to be one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference next year.

Still, it sounds like Antetokounmpo won't be going anywhere anytime soon, and his presence will keep the Bucks afloat until they add more star power around him to compete for an NBA championship.
