Rockets Reportedly Eye Finney-Smith, Alexander-Walker, Kennard Meetings in NBA FA
The Houston Rockets are looking to meet with forward Dorian Finney-Smith, guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker and wing Luke Kennard in free agency, per Kelly Iko of The Athletic.
Teams can begin negotiating with upcoming free agents starting Monday at 6 p.m. ET.
The 6'7" Finney-Smith has played in the NBA since 2016 with the Dallas Mavericks and stayed with them until 2023. He went to Brooklyn in the Kyrie Irving trade and then headed to the Los Angeles Lakers this past season in the D'Angelo Russell deal.
Last year, Finney-Smith posted 10.4 points and 4.6 rebounds for Brooklyn, where he was a starter. The 32-year-old was primarily a reserve in L.A., averaging 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds.
Kennard, 29, has played eight NBA seasons with the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies. He's a phenomenal outside shooter, making 43.8 percent of his career three-pointers.
Last season, Kennard averaged 8.9 points per game while shooting 47.8 percent from the field (43.3 percent from three). He played in 65 games, starting 11 and averaging 22.6 minutes per contest.
The 26-year-old Alexander-Walker averaged 9.4 points while shooting 43.8 percent shooting (38.1 percent from three-point range) and adding 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
He's been a reliable asset for Minnesota, playing all 82 games each of the past two seasons, which resulted in back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances. He's due for a big payday with his two-year, $9 million contract expiring.
