Wimbledon 2025 Top Storylines to Track for Entire Bracket on Tournament Schedule
In just 24 hours, the 139th edition of Wimbledon will get underway.
In the men's draw, Carlos Alcaraz is looking to join Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic as the only men in the 21st century to three-peat at the All England Club.
Hoping to stand in his way is three-time major champion Jannik Sinner, who the Spaniard defeated in a thrilling French Open final just weeks ago.
Elsewhere, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic will look to avoid capturing a record-breaking 25th major title.
In the women's draw, top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka is the projected favorite, but she has now lost back-to-back Grand Slam finals.
There are a handful of women equally as capable as Sabalenka, including Coco Gauff and 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, to name a few.
Keep reading to find the biggest storylines you need ahead of Monday's play.
Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner On Collision Course To Meet In Another Slam Final
1 of 3
Carlos Alcaraz enters the All England Club amidst a career-high 18-match win streak.
The Spaniard is expected to easily navigate through the first two rounds before encountering his first significant challenge from a heavy-serving opponent, either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Jan-Lennard Struff.
From there, things don't get any easier, as the two-time defending champion could face Andrey Rublev in the Round of 16, followed by either Holger Rune or Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinal.
Despite the difficulty of his path, Alcaraz is still expected to reach the finals, considering his current form and momentum.
At the top of the draw, Jannik Sinner looks poised to reach the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career.
Sinner faces a more favorable path and should not encounter his first real test until the fourth round if Tommy Paul is indeed waiting.
However, the first real challenge is expected to come in the semifinal against Novak Djokovic, who has reached the Wimbledon final the last six years.
However, it would be difficult to find anyone willing to wager against Sinner, given his recent dominance over the 24-time major champion in straight sets at Roland-Garros.
He's won 49 of his last 50 matches against players not named Carlos Alcaraz, and it's unlikely he's upset before reaching the final.
Prediction: Jannik Sinner over Carlos Alcaraz in four sets
Can Novak Djokovic Achieve Glory Once More At Wimbledon?
2 of 3
Novak Djokovic is in the final stages of his quest for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title.
The Serbian has not won a major since the 2023 US Open and hasn't achieved much success since defeating Carlos Alcaraz at the 2024 Paris Olympics to win a gold medal for the first time in his career.
But, lucky for him, he's always shown up at the All England Club, winning the final in four of the past six years, despite losing the past two years to Carlos Alcaraz.
He's unlikely to face any challenges until the third round, where big-hitting Alex Michelsen or Christopher Eubanks likely awaits.
Even if Djokovic is far from his best, he is still expected to clear either hurdle, despite dropping what would likely be his first set of the tournament.
The task gets difficult again in the Round of 16, where Alex de Minaur is projected to await.
The Australian won't overpower Djokovic but instead attempt to wear him down with his top-notch athleticism and consistency.
Djokovic is nonetheless expected to advance before narrowly defeating home crowd favorite Jack Draper in the quarterfinal.
Similar to Roland-Garros, Djokovic's fortunes are likely to run out in the semifinals against Jannik Sinner, who is the first player to defeat him four times in a row since Andy Roddick 15 years ago.
Aryna Sabalenka Looks To Put Back-to-Back Major Finals Losses Behind Her
3 of 3
Aryna Sabalenka enters the All England Club as the favorite to win it all.
The top seed has now lost consecutive Grand Slam finals, each in heartbreaking fashion, but she is poised to find success this week.
Her serve, combined with her ability to generate force off opponents' second serves, gives her a massive advantage and makes her such a dangerous opponent.
Aside from Sabalenka, there are several other players just as capable of finding success.
For starters, it's hard to rule out recent French Open champion Coco Gauff and 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, who can go as far as her serve takes her.
Sabalenka faces a difficult draw and could get Marketa Vondrousova in the third round, who just a week ago dispatched her in straight sets.
Should Sabalenka advance, her path only gets harder.
She's nonetheless expected to advance to the final, where she could face a player such as Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, or 18-year-old wunderkind Mirra Andreeva.
Rybakina is likely the favorite of the trio considering her grass-court pedigree. The No. 11 seed has already won a Wimbledon title and has reached at least the quarterfinal in three consecutive years.
Prediction: Aryna Sabalenka over Elena Rybakina in three sets
