Scouting Report for Detroit Pistons Undrafted Free Agent Signing Brice Williams
The Detroit Pistons have signed free agent Brice Williams after he went undrafted in the 2025 NBA draft, according to Bryan Kalbrosky of For The Win.
The 23-year-old earned first-team All-Big Ten honors from coaches, media and the Associated Press in 2025 playing for Nebraska. He was also named to the College Basketball Crown All-Tournament Team.
Williams' 20.4 points per game last season ranked second in the Big Ten and 13th nationally, and he finished with a school-record 713 total career points.
Ignoring his low-volume freshman year, he shot 38.5 percent from three on 4.0 attempts per game over his career.
Williams thrives as a shotmaker with scoring versatility and a proven record of efficiency.
Still, he lacks standout athleticism, has questions to answer on defense and enters the league as an older prospect.
Overall, Williams is a bucket-getter who will need to embrace the other end of the floor to stick, but the offensive tools are already in place.
Williams is ranked No. 52 on B/R NBA draft expert Jonathan Wasserman's 2025 Prospect Big Board.

Realistic Pro Comparison: Alec Burks
1 of 3
The way Williams plays on ball and picks his spots reminds of current Miami Heat guard Alec Burks.
Williams is a guard who scores with his body control more than with any athleticism. He plays with pace and almost a lack of flair that reminds of Burks, who, while never projecting as a star, has built a respected resume on being a career role man and occasional starter.
Strengths
2 of 3
- Shotmaking
- Scoring Versatility
- Efficiency
Williams' jumper is easy to trust. He's a 44 percent pull-up shooter and passes the eye test both on and off the ball.
He was extremely efficient as a pick-and-roll ball-handler this past season and a spot-up scorer.
Despite his athletic limitations, Williams has a bag of tricks including Eurosteps and change-of-pace moves that don't require elite speed. And at 23 years old, you know he's bringing it to the table right away, not years down the road.
Weaknesses
3 of 3
- Athleticism
- Defense
- Age
"Upside" is neither an inherent strength nor weakness. But lacking it will always hurt a prospect's draft stock, and that's, in large part, what's happened with Williams at 23.
Of course, age isn't the only factor limiting his upside. Not being a great athlete or defender are easy ways to shrink your ceiling and limit your reps early in a career.
That said, Williams isn't being drafted for upside. His coaches know exactly what he brings to the table, and they likely expect his high floor to make him a strong value pick at this spot in the draft.
