Saints Trade for 49ers RB After Alvin Kamara Injury, Full Deal Revealed in New NFL Rumors

The New Orleans Saints reportedly added some much-needed running back depth on Sunday, trading linebacker Deion Jones to the San Francisco 49ers for halfback Zamir White, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Saints are currently dealing with injuries at the position to Alvin Kamara (knee), Audric Estime (ankle) and Devin Neal, who left Saturday's preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Rams with another hamstring issue.

While Travis Etienne Jr. is entrenched as the starter, the depth behind him had evaportated, with Kendre Miller one of the last men standing. White is hardly an earth-shattering addition, but he'll provide some needed relief for a position battered by injuries this summer.

The 26-year-old spent his first four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, rushing 736 yards and two touchdowns across 45 games while adding 25 catches for 152 yards.

The Saints are also likely to be without rookie first-round pick Jordyn Tyson for the next two months after the wideout suffered a right hamstring injury last week. Not exactly the summer New Orleans would have been hoping for in Kellen Moore's second season.

As for Jones, the former Pro Bowler registered 29 tackles for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season and has 761 tackles and 12 sacks for his career. The Saints had signed Jones to a one-year deal in early August, though his time in New Orleans only lasted about two weeks.

He'll battle for a reserve linebacker role behind Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw, with Nick Martin and Jaden Dugger currently the frontrunners to earn roster spots and Tatum Bethune, Garret Wallow, Jalen Graham and Luke Gifford on the roster bubble.
