SGA, Thunder Lose to Pacers in G6 as Fans Hype 1st NBA Finals Game 7 in 9 Years
For the first time in nearly a decade, there will be a Game 7 in the NBA Finals.
The Indiana Pacers walloped the Oklahoma City Thunder 108-91 to force a Game 7 after dropping the last two games of the series. The winner-takes-all matchup will be played in Oklahoma City on Sunday.
The Thunder, who had all the momentum after winning Games 4 and 5, were no match for Indiana on Thursday. The Pacers had six players in double figures, with Obi Toppin's 20 leading the way.
Oklahoma City had one of its worst performances of the postseason, turning the ball over 21 times and shooting a lackluster 8-of-30 from deep. The Pacers outscored OKC 36-17 in the second quarter, and Indiana never bounced back.
While Thursday's game wasn't too thrilling by nature of it being a blowout, it set up a Game 7, and fans rejoiced.
With all the great matchups fans have seen throughout the playoffs, it only makes sense that the last game of the 2024-25 season will be a Game 7. There's a lot on the line as the Pacers look for their first championship in franchise history, while the Thunder are looking for their first since moving to Oklahoma City in 2008.
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Thunder (-350) are the favorites heading into Game 7.
Ideally, the Thunder would have preferred to close things out in Game 6, but a Game 7 could give them the chance to win the Larry O'Brien Trophy in front of a home crowd.
