Tyrese Haliburton Talks 'The Moment' Nickname amid Pacers Playoff Run, 'It's Cool'
Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton discussed "The Moment" nickname he received from ESPN NBA analyst Richard Jefferson after his game-winning bucket in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder last Thursday, and he provided this answer in response to a question from ESPN's Malika Andrews (3:00 mark).
"It's cool. I think every time that you're able to experience such highs as a basketball player, the commentary changes, and there's always new nicknames, new stories, all these things come out. So that's a lot of fun, but yeah, I think through the course of Game 1, you know I really struggled to get to playing well, and I thought in the fourth quarter as a group, we just kept our head down, kept playing, and ultimately the ball ended up in my hands to finish the game and just trying to make the right play."
Haliburton hit a mid-range jumper with three-tenths of a second left to give Indiana a 111-110 win.
He's risen to the moment in each round of the playoffs, though, first against the Milwaukee Bucks and then versus the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks.
It's been a sensational postseason for Haliburton and the Pacers, who are in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2000 and the second time in franchise history.
OKC bounced back with a 123-107 win over the Pacers in Game 2, but now the series shifts back to Indiana for Game 3 on Wednesday evening.
