Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Becomes 12th NBA Player with 3K Points in a Season
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander reached another milestone during his impressive 2024-25 season on Sunday.
The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar recorded his 3,000th point of the season (regular season and playoffs combined) in the first quarter of the team's matchup with the Indiana Pacers in Game 2 of the NBA Finals (h/t the Associated Press).
Gilgeous-Alexander became the 12th player in NBA history to reach 3,000 points in a single season, including the playoffs.
He's served as the offensive hub of a Thunder squad that finished the regular season with the best record in the association at 68-14, ranking No. 1 among all teams with a plus-12.7 net rating (via NBA.com).
Gilgeous-Alexander averaged a league-leading 32.7 points to go along with 6.4 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game in 76 regular-season starts. He shot 51.9 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from behind the arc.
The 26-year-old was named MVP for his efforts, become the third player in franchise history to receive the award.
Gilgeous-Alexander has continued to showcase his scoring prowess throughout Oklahoma City's 2025 playoff run, averaging 30.2 points per game on 47.1/31.4/85.8 shooting splits in 17 postseason appearances entering Sunday's action.
The Thunder still face a 1-0 series deficit against the Pacers in the Finals after they weren't able to hold onto a late lead in Game 1, which led to a game-winning jumper from Tyrese Haliburton.
Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 38 points in the defeat, but the rest of Oklahoma City's starting lineup combined to shoot just 16-of-47 from the field.
As the three-time All-Star attempted to help the Thunder tie their series against Indiana on Sunday, he made some history along the way.
