French Open 2025 Results: Day 9 Bracket Winners, Losers, Highlights at Roland-Garros

Nicholas NathansonJun 2, 2025

Death, taxes, and Novak Djokovic reaching the quarterfinal at Roland-Garros are the only certainties in life.

The Serbian clinched his 16th consecutive Roland-Garros quarterfinal appearance with a straight-set win over Cameron Norrie, keeping his hopes of a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title alive, while No. 5 seed Jack Draper fell in stunning four-set fashion to unseeded Alexander Bublik.

Djokovic has yet to face a challenge or even drop a set, but that's expected to change in the quarterfinal, with Alexander Zverev waiting.

Meanwhile, for all Bublik has accomplished, he's about to face the toughest task in tennis, taking on World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who has won 18 consecutive Grand Slam matches.

Entering the French Open, 22-year-old Lois Boisson had never played a Grand Slam main-draw match.

On Monday, the World No. 361 stunned No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula in three sets on Court Philippe-Chatrier, becoming the first French woman to reach the Roland-Garros quarterfinal since 2017.

Meanwhile, Coco Gauff reached the quarterfinal for the fifth consecutive year, while Mirra Andreeva and Madison Keys each won in straight sets.

Below, you'll find all the results and the biggest takeaways from Monday's play.

Novak Djokovic

For the 16th consecutive year, the French Open quarterfinals will feature Novak Djokovic, who has yet to drop a set this tournament.

The 38-year-old has been one of the top performers this week, remaining consistent while not enduring much wear and tear.

Djokovic has faced an extremely favorable path, but that's about to change with Alexander Zverev up next.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion will likely find himself in a physically grueling battle with the German, but given his reduced workload this week, that should not be an issue.

Furthermore, Zverev has often tended to struggle when the moment matters most, which Djokovic, with his mental fortitude, will likely exploit.

Jannik Sinner Puts On Another Clinic

Jannik Sinner

Can anyone not named Carlos Alcaraz stop Jannik Sinner?

Aside from facing two break points in his opening service game, the 23-year-old Italian picked apart fourth-round opponent Andrey Rublev in straight sets to win his 18th consecutive Grand Slam match.

Rublev possesses one of the top forehands on tour, yet he couldn't withstand Sinner's overwhelming force and consistency as the rallies intensified.

The No. 1 seed has played a stellar tournament, committing 20 or fewer errors in every match despite playing with the baseline aggression that he does.

Furthermore, he has yet to drop a set and has lost just two service games.

Barring something unexpected, Sinner remains in strong contention to win it all.

Jack Draper's Clay Season Comes To A Shocking Early End

Jack Draper

Jack Draper’s best season yet on clay has come to an end in stunning fashion at the hands of Alexander Bublik.

While Draper led Bublik by a set and service break, Bublik found his best tennis late, taking control of the match with his blistering forehand while finding equal dominance at the net and with his drop shot.

Draper had been serving exceptionally well throughout the week but struggled to hold down the stretch, winning fewer than 70 percent of points on his first serve in the second and third sets.

Furthermore, he failed to capitalize on six break points in Bublik's final service game.

Bublik has knocked out two top-10 seeds en route to his first major quarterfinal and will likely need to knock out another to advance to the semifinals.

Coco Gauff Coasts, Eyes Match With Madison Keys

Coco Gauff

Despite reaching the Round of 16, Coco Gauff was far from her best in her opening three matches.

But she enters the quarterfinal with much encouragement.

The 21-year-old American dispatched No. 20 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets.

While Gauff continued to struggle with double faults, she played a stellar return game, winning 9 of 13 points on her opponent's second serve.

She also managed to save 8 of 9 breakpoints and committed just 17 unforced errors.

In the quarterfinal, the 2022 French Open finalist will take on Madison Keys in an all-American showdown.

Keys defeated Hailey Baptiste in straight sets, ending the 23-year-old's impressive run in the Round of 16.

Lois Boisson Stuns Jessica Pegula In Biggest Upset Of Women's Draw

2025 French Open - Day Nine
Lois Boisson

Jessica Pegula fell in the biggest upset in the women's draw so far.

The No. 3 seed raced off to a one-set lead, but as she has done all week, Lois Boisson rallied around the crowd and her aggressive forehand to pull out another improbable win in front of her home crowd.

Boisson will face another tough task in Mirra Andreeva, who became the youngest woman to reach the French Open quarterfinals in back-to-back years since Martina Hingis in 1997 and 1998.

While Boisson will undoubtedly start as an underdog, nothing should be ruled out, considering what she has just pulled off.
