Naz Reid Reportedly Expected to Decline $15M T-Wolves Contract Option Ahead of NBA FA

Taylyn Hadley Jun 1, 2025

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Naz Reid is reportedly expected to decline his $15 million player option, entering free agency this offseason, per Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

Reid, the 2024 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, played a key role off the bench during the Timberwolves' run to the Western Conference Finals, where they fell 4-1 to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In the postseason, Reid averaged 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Reid averaged a career-high 14.2 points per game during the regular season, along with 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists—all personal bests—while shooting 46 percent from the field.

The 25-year-old was previously playing under a three-year, $41.96 million deal with the Timberwolves. Despite going undrafted out of LSU in 2019, Reid signed with Minnesota and has spent all six of his NBA seasons with the team.

Reid has been a valuable spark off the bench, delivering Sixth Man of the Year production for just $13.9 million this season—a bargain Minnesota knew would be tough to maintain.

With multiple teams in the market for a high-level offensive big, the Timberwolves are expected to face stiff competition for Reid’s services in free agency.
