Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner Continue To Coast

3 of 6
2025 French Open - Day Seven
Jannik Sinner

Cameron Norrie will face Novak Djokovic for the sixth time in his career, trying to pick up his first win in the matchup.

While Djokovic is aiming to reach the quarterfinal at Roland-Garros for a 16th consecutive year, this event is the furthest Cam Norrie has ever gone.

Traditionally, Norrie has never been a clay player, but his consistency and movement have often had the ability to wear down opponents.

Norrie can frustrate Djokovic and perhaps make him engage in more physical play than he's seen this week; however, Djokovic has both the mental edge and the current form to move on to the quarterfinal.

It wouldn't be a surprise if Djokovic dropped his first set of the tournament; however, anything more than that seems extremely unlikely.

Meanwhile, red-hot Jannik Sinner will aim to pick up his 18th consecutive major win when he takes on Andrey Rublev.

Rublev has spent limited time on the court and advanced to the Round of 16 via walkover after his opponent Arthur Fils sustained an injury in the second round.

Rublev hits forceful groundstrokes and has the talent to challenge Sinner.

However, the mental hurdle of defeating Sinner at this stage may just be too much to overcome.

Furthermore, Sinner has been the best player on the ATP Tour the last two years, and it’s unlikely Rublev is unable to match the physicality or consistency required to pull off the upset.

Alexander Zverev Defeats Tallon Griekspoor Yet Again

4 of 6
2025 French Open - Day Seven

A year after playing a four-hour-plus, five-set thriller, Alexander Zverev and Tallon Griekspoor will face off yet again.

Since then, the pair has engaged in four best-of-three matches, with both of their encounters this year spanning more than three hours.

The head-to-head encounter has been entirely one-sided (Zverev leads 7-2); however, Griekspoor has always been a difficult matchup for Zverev because of his consistency.

Griekspoor has the tools to win this match and will need to come out with baseline aggression and strong net play, as he's done in their previous two matches, to push the German to the limit.

However, Zverev has a clear mental edge and experience at this stage, which should be enough for him to prevail in four sets.

Coco Gauff, Madison Keys Move On

5 of 6
2025 French Open - Day Seven

Coco Gauff is looking to reach the quarterfinal at Roland Garros for a fifth consecutive year.

And despite being far from her best, the 21-year-old American enters the Round of 16 without yet surrendering a set.

But the challenge is about to get much more difficult with Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Alexandrova has won 21 of her 25 service games without dropping a set and is the most consistent of the players Gauff will meet so far.

Gauff will need an all-around solid performance to advance, and anything less can put her on upset alert.

Meanwhile, No. 8 seed Madison Keys will face 23-year-old American compatriot Hailey Baptiste, who is in the Round of 16 at a major for the first time in her career.

Like Keys, Baptiste has a forceful serve and hits solid groundstrokes.

However, the 2025 Australian Open champion has more than enough tools and carries a considerable mental edge needed to advance.

The Road Ends For Jessica Pegula

6 of 6
2025 French Open - Day Seven
Jessica Pegula

Hardly anyone expected World No. 361 Lois Boisson to defeat Elise Mertens in the opening round of the French Open.

Now, Boisson prepares for a Round of 16 matchup against No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula.

The 22-year-old has not faced an opponent like Pegula yet, but she is more than capable of keeping things tight with the American if she can hit her first serve at a consistent rate and establish offense early.

Pegula is the clear favorite, but it wouldn't be surprising if the match goes to a third set, with the home crowd backing Boisson all the way to the end.
