Aaron Rodgers Reportedly 'Has Not Affirmatively Told' Steelers He'll Sign Contract
Aaron Rodgers hasn't made a verbal commitment to the Pittsburgh Steelers as he continues to navigate through free agency, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
"I have been told that he has not affirmatively told the Steelers that he's coming," Pelissero reported during a Friday appearance on The Rich Eisen Show (4:00 mark). "… There's all these signs that he's coming but he has not affirmatively said 'Hey, June 9 book me the ticket. I'm coming in and I'm going to join this team.' That has not happened as of this point."

Final Consensus NFL Mock Draft 📝

NFL coach calls CFB transfer players 'clowns'
In April, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Pittsburgh was "optimistic" about signing the veteran quarterback.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin also shared a promising update during the 2025 NFL draft after meeting with Rodgers.
"We've had really productive talks with him, and I've enjoyed having productive talks with him and getting to know him," Tomlin said, per ESPN's Brooke Pryor.
Rodgers reportedly visited Pittsburgh's facilities and met with the team's coaching staff for roughly six hours on March 21 as well.
The four-time MVP has ruled out playing for other teams such as the New Orleans Saints, but there still doesn't appear to be an exact timeline regarding a potential contract agreement with the Steelers.
Rodgers spent the 2024 season with the New York Jets, finishing with a record of 5-12 as a starter. The 41-year-old completed 63 percent of his throws for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns against just 11 interceptions, although his 48.0 QBR ranked No. 25 among 32 qualified quarterbacks.
Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and sixth-round rookie Will Howard are the only quarterbacks on Pittsburgh's current roster.
While Rudolph has prior experience starting with the Steelers and Thompson has three career starts under his belt, it would be risky for the Steelers to rely on either as a full-time starter as they target a third consecutive playoff appearance in 2025.
Pittsburgh's mandatory minicamp begins on June 10, but it remains to be seen if Rodgers will be a member of the team once it starts.
