Ethan Holliday to Nationals, Liam Doyle to Angels in ESPN's 2025 MLB Mock Draft
The first few months of the MLB season are in the books, which means the draft is quickly approaching.
ESPN's Kiley McDaniel gave his latest MLB mock draft on Wednesday as teams prepare to make their selections, starting on July 13.
McDaniel pegged Ethan Holliday, son of MLB veteran Matt Holiday and younger brother of Baltimore Orioles infielder Jackson Holiday, as the No. 1 pick, going to the Washington Nationals. Holliday, a third baseman, currently plays for Stillwater High School in Oklahoma and should be one of the best high schoolers in this year's draft class.

At No. 2, McDaniel projects star Tennessee pitcher Liam Doyle to land with the Los Angeles Angels. Doyle, who previously played for Coastal Carolina and Ole Miss, has a 3.04 ERA and a 9-3 record for the Vols this season. The lefty was named the SEC's Pitcher of the Year in 2025.
Doyle dealt 14 strikeouts in a matchup against Ole Miss earlier this year.
It's worth noting that the Angels have had good luck with Tennessee players in recent years. Los Angeles took pitcher Ben Joyce in the third round of the 2022 MLB draft, and he made his major league debut less than a year later.
Infielder Christian Moore, who led the Vols to a national championship in 2024, was selected by the Angels eighth overall last year and recently made the jump to Triple-A. Moore is the No. 62 prospect in baseball, per Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter.
Reuter released the fourth version of his MLB mock draft in April, where he has Holliday going to the Colorado Rockies at No. 4 and Doyle landing with the Cincinnati Reds at No. 9.
